LinkedIn adds new AI job coach for premium users

Microsoft-owned job-searching platform LinkedIn is introducing a job coach feature for its premium subscribers. This AI-based job coach will utilize AI and LinkedIn data to assist job seekers in researching and applying for roles. The addition of this new feature coincides with the company’s announcement of reaching 1 billion members, highlighting its increased investment in AI-driven capabilities.

LinkedIn has been actively exploring AI features for its paying members. Earlier this year, the platform introduced the ability to access generative AI, aiding users in writing better profile descriptions and messages to hiring managers. However, the latest AI feature aims to provide an even more personalized experience for users.

It is worth noting that the job coach feature is currently in its early stages and is being launched in beta for a limited group of LinkedIn Premium subscribers. Nevertheless, the company plans to make AI a central component of its service in the near future.

LinkedIn AI Job Coach: How will it work?

With this new feature, job seekers will receive AI-generated insights alongside each job posting. The tool will help users condense lengthy job descriptions, and based on the contents of their LinkedIn profile, it will suggest whether a given role is suitable for them.

For instance, the tool will be able to highlight specific work experiences that users may want to emphasize in their application. Additionally, the AI job coach will offer tips on how to enhance their LinkedIn profile to make it more appealing to hiring managers.

Insights from LinkedIn

Rohan Rajiv, a LinkedIn product manager, explained that this LinkedIn feature offers a more personalized experience compared to other generative AI services due to the platform’s extensive career data.

He stated, “This is made possible by generative AI, but also the datasets that bring all of this together. It’s your profile, your connections, and all of this that essentially can help you move your job search forward.”

LinkedIn’s Chief Product Officer, Tomer Cohen, expressed in a blog post that the AI job coach marks the beginning of a new journey, where AI becomes an ally in every career question and decision.
